Tribute to SISD principal Friday, memorial set for Saturday

SHERMAN, TX -- A touching tribute Friday to the life of Neblett Elementary school's principal, Sheryl Powers, who passed away at her home Wednesday morning.

Sherman Players entered Bearcat Stadium arm in arm Friday night, carrying purple balloons.

Family, friends, students and faculty, all wore Neblett Elementary's school colors -- purple and black.

It was not only a tribute to Ms. Powers, but a show of support for her 16-year-old daughter, Samantha.

As you can see...purple filled bearcat stadium....from balloons to shirts...even the sherman bearcat mascot donned a purple shirt.

Memorial services for Powers will be held at the Sherman Bible Church at 2:00 pm Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, friends ask that donations be made to an education fund set up for Powers' daughter.

The fund is set up with American Bank of Texas.
