Month, year less deadly for Okla. drivers

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says fewer people were killed in auto accidents in January than the same month last year and the overall number of traffic deaths for the year is also down from a year ago.

A department report released Friday says that there were 31 traffic fatalities in January that included one motorcyclist and five pedestrians. There were 44 traffic fatalities in the state during January 2012.

The department says that as of Tuesday there had been 60 traffic fatalities thus far in 2013 compared to 71 as of the same date in 2012.
