MOORE, Okla. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced economic grants that include money to hire a disaster coordinator for the city of Moore.

The grants announced Wednesday include $300,000 to the city of Moore and $300,000 to the Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center in Choctaw.

The disaster coordinator for Moore will manage disaster assistance at the federal, state, and local levels and develop strategies to ensure the success of rebuilding efforts in the wake of devastating tornadoes that hit the region in May.

The Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center will use its grant to help develop long-term economic development plans and increase ways to support area firms and entrepreneurs in eastern Oklahoma County, which has been impacted by a number of natural disasters during the last ten years.
