'Mudcats' star charged with assault in Stephens County

DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - A star of a reality show about noodling is facing charges of assault and robbery after allegedly breaking into a rural Oklahoma home and assaulting the homeowners.

Twenty-year-old Winston Walters was charged Friday with burglary, conspiracy, robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. His bond was set $2.5 million.

National Geographic Channel's show "Mudcats" featured Walters catching catfish with his hands.

Sheriff Wayne McKinney told KSWO that Walters and another man, John Oxford, broke into a Stephens County home in January and shot the man and tied up the woman. The two men then reportedly stole money and guns. McKinney did not return calls from the AP.

Oxford faces the same charges.

A spokesman for "Mudcats" says the show was not renewed and there are no plans to re-air it.
