OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - U.S. Representative Markwayne Mullin is back in the country after spending the Memorial Day weekend with troops in Afghanistan.

The Republican from Westville returned to the U.S. on Wednesday from his first trip to the region.

The first-term congressman joined a bipartisan congressional delegation that met with U.S. military leaders and officials from the Afghan National Security Forces to discuss ground strategies and long-term planning in the country.

Mullin said he was particularly honored to visit the troops during the Memorial Day weekend. The delegation had departed on Saturday.

The bipartisan delegation was led by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and included U.S. Representatives Patrick Murphy of Florida, Sean Maloney of New York, John Barrow of Georgia, and Pete Gallego of Texas.
