Multiple accidents on Red River Bridge

COLBERT, OK -- Icy conditions are believed to have caused multiple accidents on the Red River Bridge Tuesday night, which slowed down traffic for a couple of hours.

According to O-H-P troopers, a car was headed southbound on Highway 69/75 and lost control, hitting the median. Six other vehicles hit the guard rails or each other trying to avoid the first accident.

No one was injured but southbound traffic was down to one lane causing back ups for more than two hours.

"Due to the time lapse between the first, second, third and fourth we do call them separate incidents. The actual first one is being determined unsafe speed due to the icy conditions," Trooper James Reinecker said.

Five departments responded to the accident. ODOT has been called out to put some more sand on the Red River Bridge.
