New Tanglewood Resort development brings retail and housing

POTTSBORO, TEXAS -- In a few months time, this land will hold more than 20,000 square feet of retail space, called Tanglewood Crossing.

"We just can't wait to get construction started and we think it'll bring an energy to the area," Tanglewood co-owner Greg Dick said.

Dick already has five tenants signed on to open up the resort's newest development.

"We're going to have a mortgage office with one of the local banks, Chapin Title Company, a real estate company, and then we've got the Lake Texoma Health Clinic," Dick said.

Tranquility Spa and Salon is also moving into the new space after years at another location within the resort. Hanna Brinker says the salon is booming and they're in need of more space.

"This is our solution: to move down here at the front of Tanglewood, in the middle of the new development, and have a fabulous facility," Brinker said.

Karen Castleman is also expanding her business, Chapin Title Company, from Sherman Town Center to Tanglewood Crossing and thinks the expansion of 289 is a big boost.

"There's a lot of development happening out here, a lot of people moving towards the lake, and we just think this is going to be the place to be," Castleman said.

The owners also have plans for a phase two that would add dozens of one-story homes, some on the golf course.

"We're really going to try to do a first-class development. Just make everything as nice as we can and make something that everybody will be proud of," Dick said.

Tenants say they're already anticipating the additional customers.

"Really looking forward to that and having the homes built, the businesses here. It's just going to be good for everyone," Brinker said.

"We're excited about it. There's a lot going on," Castleman said.

The owners say construction will start on Monday and they're expecting phase one to be completed quickly, in less than five months.
