CHOCTAW COUNTY, OK -- Earlier this week we told you former Silo baseball coach Roy West pleaded guilty to reduced charges for beaning his players with baseballs last year.
Friday, News 12 obtained court documents in which West is quoted saying, "While coaching the 7th and 8th grade boys baseball team on April 9th, 2013, if a player did not square up a pitch they were required to turn around and I threw baseballs and hit the 14 players in the back of their bodies.
While some of the boys sustained bruises, I did not intend to hurt any player.
I believe each child has testified truthfully. Understanding the possibility of being found guilty to assault & battery, a misdemeanor, on a student, I hereby enter this no contest plea to each charge." end quote.
As part of the plea agreement West received two years probation, a two year ban from participating in any youth sports and a $250 dollar fine on each of the 14 counts.
