PARIS, TX-- New medical coding training is coming to Paris Junior College.
In the next year, PJC will offer training to meet a new requirement from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Those handling medical records, coding and billing, will need to learn a new set of codes.
The change is considered to be the most challenging transition since the inception of coding.
PJC hopes offering the training will pave a path into the medical community, saving medical professionals a long trip to the metroplex.
"They can get the training here close to home and they can get it at a much more reasonable rate," said Dean of Workforce Education John Spradling. "They are going to have a resource to rely on if they run into something in the field."
PJC will be offering an overview session on August 2nd from 8 A.M. until 12 P.M.The last day of registration is July 31st.
The new codes go into effect on October 1st 2014.
