FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas jury has sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for biting off the nose of a person he quarreled with while washing a car.

Christopher W. Harris received the punishment Wednesday in Fort Worth - the third time prosecutors say he has been sentenced for biting.

Prosecutors say the 37-year-old and another homeless man began to argue last year while washing the car. They say Harris grabbed the man in a bear hug and bit his nose, removing half of it. Efforts to reattach it were unsuccessful.

Harris was convicted Tuesday of an assault charge.

Harris was also sentenced in 2001 to nine months for biting a jailer's finger. Prosecutors say he was sentenced in 2006 to four years for biting and swallowing part of a man's finger.
