After months of construction I-35 in front of Winstar World Casino now has a northbound exit ramp, and a south bound entrance ramp.
In the second phase of the project, ODOT resident engineer Jay Earp said drivers will see construction of a northbound entrance ramp, a southbound exit ramp and an easier time on the road.
"Having two exits where motorists can exit to the casino will help alleviate backups on I-35," said Earp.
Most drivers we talked to agree.
"It's going to be really nice, they spent a lot of money doing it, it's probably going to bring in some more revenue," said Gregory Duncan, a driver.
ODOT just awarded the contract for this $7.5 million portion of the project to to Silver Star Construction.
Earp said the southbound on ramp from phase one will open Monday, but there may be some slow downs around the new construction.
"We should not be down to one land in each direction more than 45 days on this project.," said Earp.
The construction will begin in early August and is set to finish in seven months. It's being funded by the Chickasaw Nation.
And some drivers said they'll definitely see a return on their investment.
"It makes it too easy to get on and off the highway for the guys that are coming up from Texas, going to Oklahoma City and might have a few bucks in their pocket to burn," said driver John Fortner.
