MADILL, OK -- A Madill plant has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for a deadly explosion earlier this year.

The explosion happened at Mid American Steel and Wire just south of Madill, in January.

22-year-old Brody Davenport and 38-year-old Gonzalo Martinez both died due to thermal injuries and smoke inhalation and both deaths were ruled as accidents.

OSHA has cited the plant for not protecting employees from explosion hazards during electric and furnace operations as well as other recognized hazards.

The plant now owes penalty fees totaling over $26,000.
