OU to start using common application

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The University of Oklahoma says it will start using the Common Application for students seeking admission.

The change is to go into effect for new freshmen and transfer students in the fall of 2014.

Students using the Common Application can submit to any number of colleges and universities that use the same application. That eliminates the need for students to fill out multiple applications and write separate essays for each college.

More than 500 institutions among 47 states use the Common Application.
