MCALESTER, OK -- An Oklahoma state penitentiary inmate is facing second degree murder charges accused of murdering his cellmate.

An affidavit states Mikell Smith admitted to killing inmate Timothy Hale after Hale pulled a razor and began cutting him, in July.

Pittsburg county authorities say smith knocked hale to the ground and choked him with a sheet but claimed he never meant to kill Hale.

Smith is already serving a life sentence without parole for two previous first degree murder charges.
