OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A southern Oklahoma man has been arrested after authorities say he killed a woman south of Ratliff City last year when he hit her with his car.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Charles Jackson of Fox was arrested Wednesday on a complaint of first degree manslaughter. Carter County jail records indicate Jackson is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court Thursday. There was no information listed whether Jackson had an attorney.
Authorities say Jackson was driving northbound on a highway last July when he drove onto the shoulder, striking and killing Carol Coker.
Officers say Jackson attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by eye witnesses. During an investigation, authorities say Jackson was driving under the influence of prescription medication and was impaired when he hit Coker.
