LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- The Pattonville Volunteer Fire Department will be fighting fires in a new fire truck, thanks to a grant program.
The Texas Forestry Service presented a $200,000 to volunteer chief Curtis Wilson and the community. The department received the brand new tanker through a grant they applied for a couple months ago.
Wilson says it's out with the old and in with the new to help better serve Pattonville and the surrounding communities.
"I think it's going to do a lot of good, especially to protect the people around here," said volunteer chief Curtis Wilson. "We can get there quicker, we have a lot more water and a lot better truck now."
Wilson says having the new truck will also help in case of an emergency at Prairiland ISD, which is right down the road.
