PARIS, TX -- The Paris Police Department will be stepping up its traffic enforcement at trouble spots over the next few weeks.
With high accident rates and many citizen complaints, police say they'll be working overtime around the intersection of FM 1497 and Loop 286 and areas along Southwest 7th Street, as well as other locations throughout the city.
Officers will primarily be looking for speeding and failure to stop or yield violations.
"We're starting off with the two most recent areas that we've had a complaint about," said Police Chief Bob Hundley. "As we move along with this we'll move the areas around town where we've had other traffic complaints to see if we can really impact traffic safety."
Hundley says the efforts are to enhance public safety, not write more tickets.
