Progress made on stopping drug use in Paris

PARIS, TX-- A committee, formed to help stop the drug use and trafficking in Paris, is making progress.

Police Chief Bob Hundley tells us the committee, made up of city officials and law enforcement, is focusing on education and prevention.

On the law enforcement side, the chief says, they are hoping to get an inter-local agreement between Paris, Lamar County and Reno, so officers and detectives can cross jurisdictional lines.

One problem Hundley says has reduced is the sale of synthetic marijuana.

"I think we have reduced the amount that's being sold significantly because we are not getting the same amount of people going to the emergency rooms," said Hundley.

Hundley says the committee plans to take their findings back to the city council, and he hopes to get the inter-local agreement approved very soon.
