LAMAR COUNTY, Texas - Lamar County commissioners receive an estimate for renovations on the County Services Building that was double the original.
County Commissioners heard from the construction manager Monday morning saying the original estimate of $24,000 to remove asbestos and lay carpet was now $50,000.
County Judge Chuck Superville says the estimate didn't make sense, when the only area added since the original estimate was a small office.
"We think that there was an error in the calculation of the square footage quite substantial, like half or double however you want to look at it." said Superville.
Superville says the building might be old, but its worth the fix for the right price.
Commissioners have pushed the numbers back to the contractors and asked for another estimate.
