Rig at Texas checkpoint had tons of marijuana

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - Border Patrol officials have confiscated more than 3 tons of marijuana hidden in a tractor-trailer rig searched at a South Texas border checkpoint.

Officials on Monday announced the seizure of the marijuana with a street value topping $9.8 million.

Investigators say the bust happened Friday at the Falfurrias checkpoint when a drug-sniffing dog detected marijuana in the rig. Officers recovered more than 6,700 pounds of marijuana hidden in the trailer.

The driver has been detained. Further details on the investigation weren't immediately released.
