ROXTON, TEXAS-- The mayor of Roxton passed away Wednesday morning after suffering a brief illness.
James Cooper was known as Mr. Roxton, and was most recently named a Hometown Hero by the Roxton Independent School district.
Roxton city manager Janet Wheeler says he was a man, who not only was a great person, but someone who would do anything for his city.
"He was a wonderful person he loved Roxton he loved his family," said Wheeler. "Just a good guy who would do anything for anyone."
The passing of Cooper not only affects friends and family, but the entire town.
Cooper was born and raised in Roxton and has served as the cities mayor since 2003.
He was 70 years old.
