DENISON, TEXAS -- The Salvation Army of Grayson County is the recipient of a donation unlike any other.
For the first time in the history of the southern region of the Salvation Army, a property worth about a million dollars, with opportunity for continued income, was donated to the organization.
Major Don Wildish says this donation is a game changer for the Salvation Army in Grayson County, and they have a well-known, generous couple to thank for it.
Wildish says Lacy and Dorothy Harber decided to donate a building to the Salvation Army after participating in the nonprofit's Christmas Angel Tree program.
They donated this property, off Armstrong Avenue in Denison, to the Salvation Army.
The building will provide the nonprofit with continuous income, in the form of rent money, currently from the Dollar General.
"This gift is going to be able to help us generate more income to be able to turn that around and be able to help more people," Wildish said.
Wildish says he's extremely grateful for the Harber's gift and says the Salvation Army will use the facility for a new family store and social service office.
