SHERMAN, TX - Residents affected by heavy flooding attended Sherman's flood plan meeting Monday night.

City engineer, Clay Barnett says the city has been working on the flood plan since 2009.

Two years after much of Sherman was flooded in 2007.

Barnett along with the Texas Water Development Board presented their findings from the Post Oak Creek Watershed Study and possible solutions for the flooding problem.

According to Barnett, "The most productive one is creating some more regional detention facilities that hold the water from going into the streams and the creeks in the first place and that just allows less water to travel throught he creeks at one point at time."

Barnett says they will be presenting funding plans to the city council this summer.

The project will cost 54 million dollars.
