Sherman Council to consider apt complex land and taxi cab ordinance

SHERMAN, TX -- A new Sherman apartment complex may soon be on its way.

Mayor, Cary Wacker, says at Monday's City Council meeting they will consider approving a piece of land off Canyon Grove and Travis Street to be zoned for apartments.

The three story complex would build 176 units, a pool, detached garages, and more.

Also at Monday's Council meeting, the council will vote to adopt the city's new taxi cab ordinance.

The ordinance would require cabs operating in Sherman to register with the city.

That registration would require them to maintain some sort of commercial insurance, registration, inspection checks, and background checks.

City Attorney, Brandon Shelby, says Sherman has had a cab ordinance in effect since 1995, but it hasn't been enforced.
