SHERMAN, TEXAS -- A man is dead after Sherman police say he stepped in front of an 18-wheeler on Highway 75.

Police say at 6:45 Wednesday night, a semi-truck, driving northbound under the Fallon Drive bridge, struck a pedestrian.

The male victim died at the scene. His identity is not being released at this time.

The semi truck driver pulled over just north of the scene, near Texoma Medical Center, to speak with police about the incident.

"A pedestrian apparently stepped in front of an 18-wheeler and was killed. The victim has not been identified at this time and we are still conducting an investigation," Lt. Stephen Dean said.

Police say they have not ruled whether the death was an accident.

The Sherman police critical accident team is investigating.
