Sherman woman dies after being hit by vehicle

SHERMAN, TX -- Sherman Police say a local woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle on Highway 75 Friday night.

Police say 26-year-old Hope Douglas, of Sherman, died after she was hit in the 4700 block of US 75, near Tyson Foods.

Authorities say the accident happened before 11:30 p.m. Police tell us they do not believe the driver is at fault. Both northbound lanes were shut down for about four hours while authorities investigated.

The Critical Accident Investigation Team is still trying to figure out why Douglas was in the middle of the roadway. Her body has been sent to the Collin County Medical Examiner's office.
