Shoppers crowd grocery stores before Thanksgiving

SHERMAN, TX - The grocery stores were stuffed with shoppers putting those finishing touches on Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday. Shoppers at Wal-Mart in Sherman scrambled to pick up some last-minute ingredients for the holiday.

The day before Thanksgiving is typically one of the busiest days of the year for grocers, especially as shoppers pick up those hot ticket items, like baking needs and canned goods.

Customers started crowding the aisles as early as 6:30 this morning, and though the holiday rush congested the check-out counters, the store manager says everyone shopped with holiday cheer.

"I'm really surprised, honestly, you would think with this much traffic and people getting in the way, you would think you'd get a lot more customer complaints, but really you don't," said Paul Strunce.

If your holiday spread still isn't complete, there's always tomorrow. Wal-Mart will be open on Thanksgiving day.
