UPDATE: Bryan Co. Sheriff Ken Golden says the 7th grade female student who shot herself inside a truck parked in a Silo school parking lot Monday is still alive in critical condition.
Golden confirms that she shot herself in the head with a small caliber revolver that belongs to her father, in her father's truck. He says that her father is an employee at Silo schools.
SILO, OKLAHOMA - A shooting in Silo Elementary School's parking lot had Silo schools on lockdown for more than an hour Monday.
Bryan County Sheriff Ken Golden says a seventh grade female student is being treated in the hospital after she shot herself inside a truck in the school parking lot around 11 a.m.
Golden says this was an isolated incident and no students were in the vicinity when the shot was fired. He adds that everyone, including staff, faculty and students, are safe.
"There wasn't anyone else involved. This was one person," Golden said.
Golden says Silo schools went on lockdown immediately after the incident. The lockdown was lifted around 12:30 p.m. Golden says law enforcement will remain on scene the next couple of hours.
Parents may pick up their children at the back side of the cafeteria.
A Bryan County investigator at the scene says the school district handled the situation appropriately.
