Sprinkler system pipe burst causes Grayson Co. nursing home evacuation

COLLINSVILLE, TX -- Dozens of residents of a Grayson County nursing home were evacuated Monday evening.

The Homestead of Collinsville, located at 501 North Main, was evacuated around 5:30 PM.

When fire officials say a four inch pipe in the sprinkler system burst in the attic flooding the facility.

No one was reported hurt but 32 patients had to be transported to other area facilities in Sherman, Whitesboro, and Pilot Point.

Some patients are staying with family.

Collinsville Fire Marshal Damon Stewart says the sprinkler company is on site making repairs and they should be finished by Tuesday.

Once the system is back in service and passes inspection patients can return.
