LOVE COUNTY, OK - One man said he questions whether a strange smell is to blame for killing four of his animals in the past day.
Michael Clouse said he has lost a guinea pig, boxer dog, and a horse in the past day, and that another horse is sick.
"My wife said it smelled like gas in the house and had a rotten smell to it like rotten eggs," Clouse said about a smell on Wednesday morning. "I went out to feed the dog in the back pen and it was dead."
Firefighters and deputies came to check on the house near Highway 32 a few miles west of Marietta around 5 p.m. Wednesday, but say there was no strange smell.
"At this point in time, we have no idea and it's still under investigation," Love County Sheriff Joe Russell said.
Workers from a new drilling rig next door and Oklahoma Natural Gas also came out, but Russell said they too came up empty. Clouse said he uses electricity in his home, but no gas.
Russell said deputies will return to the home again on Thursday.
