STRINGTOWN, OK -- When it comes to writing tickets U.S. 69 is temporarily off limits for Stringtown Police.

During the first three months of this year the department will not be allowed to patrol the highway. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop E is covering the area.

Lt. Scott Hampton with OHP says an investigation conducted by Troop Z found that more than 50 percent of Stringtown's revenue was coming from traffic tickets, which is against state law.

The ban took effect on January the 1st.
