GRAYSON COUNTY, TX (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Sherman Department of Tourism and the Denison Convention and Visitor's Bureau have joined forces with the Red River Valley Tourism Association to celebrate the 2012 Stroll 'n Roll event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, September 8. North Texas residents are invited to tour participating museums, including The Sherman Museum, Eisenhower Birthplace, Perrin Air Force Museum and many others for free.
"The main goal of Stroll 'n Roll is to bring awareness about local museums and the history of the area," said Connie Jones, communications manager for the city of Sherman. "This is going to be a great day of exploration and excitement for the local communities."

The Sherman Museum - 301 South Walnut, Sherman, Texas 75090
The Sherman Museum is a non-profit educational institution that preserves, interprets and displays items of enduring cultural, historical and educational value related to Grayson County and the Red River area. Formerly known as the Red River Historical Museum, The Sherman Museum embraces the responsibility to engage and educate the community, promote historical awareness, foster research through shared knowledge and encouraging interaction through exhibitions, programs and service events.

Sherman Jazz Museum - 201 East Lamar Street, Sherman, TX 75090
The Sherman Jazz Museum is located inside a former Masonic Lodge, completed in 1924. The museum's mission of jazz education and preservation of the American musical art makes them a fabulous addition to the culture of Sherman. On display is a unique collection of jazz LP's, videos, music playback machines and jazz memorabilia.
Eisenhower Birthplace - 609 S. Lamar Ave, Denison, TX 75021
Located in the heart of Denison, Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site showcases the home where the 34th U.S. President Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower was born in 1890. Antique furnishings fill the modest frame house, illustrating the working class life of the Eisenhower's. The visitor's center celebrates Ike with memorabilia and exhibits, featuring his many accomplishments as president and war hero.
Perrin Air Force Base Museum - 4575 Airport Drive, Denison, TX 75020
The Perrin Air Force Base Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the North Texas Regional Airport (formerly known as Perrin Air Force Base). Perrin AFB is a former United States Air Force base, approximately 7 miles northwest of Sherman, Texas. It was active during World War II as a pilot training airfield and during the Cold War as a combat crew and flying training base. It was closed on June 30, 1971. Today the airport is used for general aviation purposes. Several of the buildings are occupied by businesses, Grayson County government agencies, as well as Grayson County College.
Frontier Village Museum - 111 R C Vaughan Rd, Denison, TX 75020
Built in April 1990, the museum is filled with artifacts, gifts from persons throughout Grayson County and many more! At Frontier Village you will find the original houses from the first pioneers of Grayson County. Frontier Village is the official county museum.
KATY Depot - 101 East Main Street Denison, TX 75021
Originally called the Union Station, the KATY Depot building is located in Denison's Historic East End District. President Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt stopped here in 1936 during his centennial visit. Since its construction, this brick railroad passenger station with red granite and terracotta trim has come to stand as a symbol of Denison.
