PARIS, TX-- Dozens of local business across the Paris area attended The Texas Business Conference Friday, put on by the Texas Workforce Commission.

About 120 local businesses gathered in the Love Civic Center to learn about the latest changes in state employment laws. Organizers lectured attendees on the proper way to stay in compliance with the Texas State employment law.

They covered specific topics including wage per hour policies, what to do when an employee quits or is laid off, and how to correctly employ contractors.

"While they hear a lot of information, they cant remember it all," said Legal Council Tommy Simmons with the Texas Workforce Commission. "All they have to do is give us a call 800-832-9394 and we'll be able to help them out with their question."

The next conference will be held in Kerrville later this month.
