HONEY GROVE, TX -- A Honey Grove woman shot and killed her husband Monday morning at their home before turning the gun on herself, Texas DPS Troopers said.
Texas DPS troopers tell us the Fannin County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 6:30 a.m. Monday from 47-year-old Traci Troutt who told the dispatcher she'd shot her husband at the couple's home in the 1100 block of North 14th street.
Two hours after receiving the call Texas Rangers called in Paris SWAT to secure the scene. Soon after entering the home they found Mrs.Troutt and her husband, 51-year-old Michael Troutt, shot dead in the bedroom.
Neighbor Robert Eitel said police told him to evacuate his home.
"He rushed us out of the house, said there was a shooting situation." said Eitel.
Michael Troutt was the Police Chief of the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Bonham.
The Honey Grove Police Department is being assisted by the Fannin County Sheriff's Dept. and the Texas Rangers. The investigation is ongoing.
