PARIS,TX -- The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting in Paris that left one man dead.
According to reports, Paris Police and the Lamar County Sheriff's Office were working together investigating a large amount of drugs being delivered in the Paris area.
According to Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley, officers were moving in on a suspect at a local convenience store when the man attempted to slam his car into police vehicles. Hundley said he then began running on foot, and, after refusing to stop and putting officers' lives in jeopardy, the man was shot. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he died.
A woman at the scene was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave during the preliminary investigation, which is standard procedure in any officer-involved shooting. No names are being released at this time.
