TISHOMINGO, OK - A small Texoma town's animal shelter policy has caught the attention of a big name country singer.

Miranda Lambert recently turned to social media site Twitter
to voice her concerns about the City of Tishomingo's animal shelter policy.

It states that animals in the shelter will be euthanized seventy-two hours after they arrive, now the city is taking up their policy at Monday night's meeting.

Grammy winner Miranda Lambert tweeted Thursday, "City mngr gave me his word no dogs will be put down at Tishomingo shelter on Friday."

City Manager Jack Yates said Lambert personally reached out to him after she found out the city council was planning to enforce a three day euthanization policy.

For the past couple years, Tishomingo has enforced the informal policy which gives each animal a week long chance to be adopted before being put down.

"I said that we would not that we would use the informal rule for the time being and we wouldn't be putting down any animals at all until after the council meeting [Monday night]," Yates said. "I am fine with the informal policy of giving the chance for the adoption to happen. We just need the councilmen to tell us directly what they want us to do."

Lambert and her equally as famous husband country singer Blake
Shelton are known to help out at the Tishomingo Animal Shelter.

Manager Larissa Pittman said the couple recently funded the shelter's new facility and help supply food for the animals.

"She is doing whatever she possibly can to help us," Pittman said. "I just love them to death. They are just the sweetest people."

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday.

Yates said whether or not the city will make a decision on the topic Monday depends if there is time to prepare a new city ordinance for consideration before the meeting.
