TISHOMINGO, OK -- The CIty of Tishomingo says Tishomingo water is unsafe for drinking and says the city is under a boil order.

BOIL ORDER OR USE BOTTLED WATER OR OTHER ACCEPTABLE SOURCE FOR CONSUMPTION
A public notice: Drinking Water Violation. Tishomingo city water is considered unsafe for drinking at this time due to contamination with fecal Escherichia coli (E. coli).
According to our Oklahoma State Health Department representative, our water system is considered unsafe to drink at this time and a boil order is in place. Local food establishments are not able to serve cooked food at this time. This closing and restrictions concerning local eating establishments will stay in place until the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality receives tests showing the water system free from contamination.
This may mean some business closings Saturday and possibly Sunday.
The bacteria was discovered in one line of three tested late Friday.
