Toys for Tots continues in Sherman

SHERMAN, TX -- As Christmas approaches, people fill area stores, holiday shopping for friends and family.

For the past 13 years News 12 has joined the Toys for Tots program. Giving Texoma children the holiday they all deserve.

Barbara Whittigton is raising her 5 grandchildren, all on her own. She says her little ones have received toys through the program the past 3 years.

"They are so happy. My grandkids so happy when they open their gifts, makes me wanna cry," said Whittigton.

Whittigton says in these tough times, she would not be able to give her grandkids a Christmas without the help of Toys for Tots.

"I appreciate it so much that they help me every year. Then I write a letter at the end of the year, and then I donate to them a little bit," said Whittigton.

Its not just the toys that helps, every little bit counts.

Eric Jordan donated 4 toys in Sherman to our drive. He gives as often as he can.

"I've been doing this for about 5 years now. I always give and I think its very nice to give. It makes me happy when I can give to others," said Jordan.

Thanks to donations from people like Jordan, and everyone else who's opened their hearts and given, we're well on our way to making sure every child in Texoma has a Merry Christmas.

You can drop off a toy or a cash donation at our Sherman or Ardmore studios. There's also dozens of other locations across Texoma.
