Trial moved up for Fannin Co. man charged with killing 3 family members

FANNIN CO., TX -- Trial for a Fannin County man charged with killing 3 of his family members has been moved up.

Prosecutors say they are no longer asking for the death penalty for Thomas Taunton.

Taunton is accused of shooting and killing 73-year-old Harold Harpst, his mother, Sue Harpst and sister Regeena Taunton in January of 2012.

The bodies were found off Highway 11 in Grayson County.

The prosecution is now asking for life without parole.

Taunton's trial has been set for August 4th.
