DENISON,TX -- Two men have been arrested by police after being caught with 28 pounds of Marijuana.
Monday night around 7:30, Denison Police pulled over Jose Luis Galindo Jr. and Roderick Lamont Issac on Pershing Drive.
"During the traffic stop it was determined that there was a large amount of Marijuana in the vehicle," said Lt. Mike Eppler.
28 pounds of Marijuana, which police showed us Tuesday afternoon.
Galindo and Isaac were arrested and could now face charges of delivery of Marijuana over 5 pounds in a drug free zone.
"It's a drug free zone because its within 150 feet of a school," said Eppler.
That school is Perrin Learning Center.
Lieutenant Mike Eppler says the Marijuana was found in several Ziplock baggies, some in a brick and some just laying around.
Michele Richardson and her husband Leon, and their six children, live just feet from the where the bust took place.
"That's not acceptable," said local resident Michele Richardson.
She says she's shocked to learn that such a large bust happened so close to the school.
"To be near a school; that's even more scary," said Richardson.
Police say they also found 1,000 cash and a cell phone during the search.
The charges of delivery of Marijuana over 5 pounds in a drug free zone are punishable up to life in prison and or a 10,000 fine.
