TEXAS -- TxDOT has voted to fund 14 Texas airport control towers that might have to close otherwise due to federal budget cuts.
The Federal Aviation Administration is cutting control tower funding for almost 150 control towers nationwide.
The Texas Transportation Commission approved spending $2 million dollars to fund 14 Texas control towers for 90 days.
The control towers who will receive funding in our area include Collin County Regional and Dallas Executive.
North Texas Regional Airport had hoped to receive funding from TxDOT to relieve Grayson County from paying for NTRA's control tower but that was not approved in Thursday's vote.
