HOWE, TEXAS -- Howe city council members have decided to spend nearly $300,000 to replace a broken sewage system that recently overflowed into several homes.

At yesterday's city council meeting, council members approved taking out the broken lift station off Farmington Road.

Mayor Jeff Stanley says that station will be replaced with a free flow sewer line connecting to the city's main sewage collection system.

It's been over a week since the current sewage system in that area backed up into homes, sending residents of one duplex into a hotel until their homes could be cleaned.

Stanley says it'll take a year to install the new sewer line.
