UPDATE: Suspect in death of Grayson Co. deputy charged with murder

GRAYSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- The suspected drunk driver, accused of hitting and killing Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy Chad Key, is now charged with murder.

Lt. Rickey Wheeler with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Ricky Trent Stanley of Whitesboro struck Key with his pick-up truck around 10:30 Saturday night, while Key was directing traffic at Highway 82 and Bethany Road.

Stanley is charged with six different offenses and is being held on bond for a total of 3.7 million dollars.

Charges and bond amounts are:
1 Murder
Bond set at $1,000,000.00
2 Intoxication Manslaughter Causing the Death of a Police Officer
Bond set at $1,000,000.00
3 Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Bond set at $1,000,000.00
4 Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More
Bond set at $500,000.00
5 Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon (gun in the vehicle)
Bond set at $100,000.00
6 Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions
Bond set at $100,000.00

Key was a sheriff's deputy for just 77 days before his death. He leaves behind a wife and three sons, ages 20,10 and two months old.
