Man stabbed inside Van Alstyne home

VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- A Van Alstyne man is in the hospital recovering from surgery, after police say he was stabbed.

Police say a 26-year-old man showed up bleeding from a stab wound at the Van Alstyne fire department last night just before ten o'clock.

Van Alstyne police tell us the man was taken to a Mckinney hospital, then transported to a Dallas hospital because of his injuries.
Authorities tell us it was inside this house on the 500 block of W.A. Denton, where the stabbing occurred.
Police say they arrested Collin Murphy at the home.

Murphy is being held on $10,000 bond in the Grayson County Jail.
He's being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possesion of marijuana.

Chief Tim Barnes says there may be a young child who witnessed the stabbing.

"Evidently the individuals are friends. It was some type of disturbance, or not distrubance, but disagreement that took place. We're still working the investigation at this time and hopefully we'll determine what caused these events tonight," Chief Barnes said.

We're told the victim is recovering from emergency surgery in a Dallas hospital. His condition has not been released.
