POTTSBORO, TX - We now know the identity of the man killed in a shooting in the locust community Tuesday night, and the man being held on a murder charge after fleeing the crime scene.
Bloodhounds were searching for a murder weapon on Guilloud Circle in Pottsboro Wednesday.
"At this point in time we don't feel as if it was an accident but it is still under investigation," said Sgt. David Russell with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
Guilloud Circle is where the Grayson County Sheriff's Office took a fleeing suspect into custody Tuesday night, about 5 miles from the crime scene, a home in the 100 block of Lazy Ike Lane in the Locust Community.
Authorities say they arrived on scene around 6:30 p.m., and found 35 year old Daniel Rucinski shot to death.
"It was a single gunshot wound that caused the death of Mr. Rucinski," said Sgt. Russell.
He says after a four hour manhunt, 31 year old Zarcon Volcanic Maddox was taken into custody around 11 p.m., and booked into the Grayson County jail on a murder charge.
Wednesday, Sheriff's deputies served a warrant at Maddox's house, also on Lazy Ike Lane, looking for more clues as to what led to the shooting.
"Just any evidence that might be tied back to the crime scene," said Sgt. Russell.
Residents nearby were reluctant to go on camera or even speak to us, however one person did tell me that this area has been nicknamed "felony flats" since the 80's, and another said anyone who knows this neighborhood stays armed.
For now, the sheriff's office continues its investigation into the alleged murder.
"There's a lot more rabbit trails to go down and a lot more people to interview before we can seal it up and send it to the DA's Office," said Sgt. Russell.
Maddox's bond is set at $500,000.
