PARIS, TX-- The Paris City Council has postponed their decision on raising water rates until September.
The recommendation was made to raise rates in Paris after a study revealed current rates are insufficient to cover costs.
The proposed increase would raise the average customers monthly water bill by $5.69 and a commercial user would see a $4.96 monthly increase.
Finance Director Gene Anderson says the city of Paris hasn't had a water increase since 2011. The council will bring the item back at a September meeting to make their decision.
