WHITEWRIGHT, TX -- The Whitewright City Council appointed an interim fire chief at a special meeting Monday night.

Jake Reynolds was chosen for the job. He has served as a paramedic for the city since early 2010 and is currently a Bonham Firefighter and paramedic.

Last week, council members voted to fire former chief Joshua Clouse and disband the department saying they want to "re-build the department from the ground up."

City council members told "News 12" Monday that the volunteer fire department is up and running.

February 14th at 5 p.m. is the deadline for those wanting to apply for the position of fire chief.
