SHERMAN, TX -- After a hard fought competition, the winner of Sherman Battle of the Badges Blood Drive was announced Monday.

The Sherman Fire Department beat the police department in the 10th Annual Battle of the Badges by a margin of just five votes.

Both Fire Chief Jeff Jones and Police Chief Otis Henry were on hand at the award ceremony.

Upon winning Chief Jones said, "Thank you so much from the fire department and the police department we depend on the citizens every day, and this is just an example of that appreciation and the communities support for our departments." then joked,"I noticed that there is a little donut smudge here on the top, so we'll clean it up and give it a new home for the next year."
