Woman accused of embezzling from Healdton enters plea

HEALDTON, OK -- A woman accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars from the city of Healdton has entered a plea.

Karen Kardaleff pled guilty in Carter County Court Wednesday afternoon to a charge of embezzlement.

The Carter County Court Clerks Office says she will spend one year in the county jail and be on probation for 9 years.

An audit released by the Oklahoma State auditors and inspectors office revealed that nearly $80,000 was embezzled from the city's utility billings between July 1st 2009 until March 7th 2012.

Kardaleff was the city treasurer at the time.
