11-hour standoff ends peacefully

ANNA, TX - An 11-hour standoff ended peacefully around 9 p.m. Saturday night.

Officials say they rushed to a truck stop off a highway 75 and FM 455 after they received a call saying a man locked himself in his vehicle threatening to harm himself.

Anna police, DPS, and Collin County sheriff deputies arrived on the scene around 10 a.m. Investigators say the man was armed with a handgun and as a precaution blocked off the surrounding area. A special tactics team was called in to help.

"Anytime you got a man with a gun, law enforcement and the public is in danger," said Sgt. Jeff Caponera. "Everyone you see out here is here for precautionary. We have a tact team out here and the county's tact team. We're coordinating the response with them."
